Fracture Sounds Majestic Brass Soloists KONTAKT
Iconic Bold Sound
The solo brass sound behind countless scores.
The fourth instalment in our award-winning legato soloist series, Majestic Brass Soloists captures the core brass instruments in an intimate setting—delivering expressive detail and scoring flexibility.
Majestic Brass Soloists showcases the four cornerstone instruments of the orchestral brass section: trumpet, French horn, trombone, and tuba, performed by some of the finest brass players from the north of England. Like our other Soloists series libraries, this release focuses on the warm, mellow, yet bold brass timbres championed by legendary composers such as Elgar, Mahler, and John Williams.
Offering a majestic and distinctive character seldom found in typical orchestral libraries, these tones strike the perfect balance. Powerful enough to make an impact without overwhelming the orchestration—ideal for when a rounded, emotive brass voice is required. This mellow timbre blends seamlessly with the naturally warm and expressive instruments in Brass Band Soloists.
Recorded specifically to complement that library, Majestic Brass Soloists lets you expand your brass palette—whether completing the brass band lineup with trombone and tuba or crafting a more contemporary, hybrid brass sound. With this collection, you have full control over the emotional depth and colour of your brass sections.
Orchestral Quartet
This library showcases the four pillars of the orchestral brass section: trumpet, French horn, trombone, and tuba. Each instrument has its own distinct character and unique set of articulations. They have also been placed in specific positions to blend seamlessly with our Brass Band Soloists library.
Meet the Musicians
This library showcases the UK’s leading brass musicians including Gareth Small (Principal Trumpet, Hallé Orchestra), Jenny Cox (French horn, Northern Chamber Orchestra), Katy Jones (Principal Trombone, Hallé Orchestra), and Conall Gormley (Tuba, Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band). Between them, their credits span iconic film scores from John Williams, Alexandre Desplat, Howard Shore, and more.
Compose With Ease
Like every library in our Soloists series, Majestic Brass Soloists puts legato at the heart of the experience — capturing not only the notes, but also the natural transitions between them. The result feels as close as possible to having a real player in the room with you, and thanks to our Smart Legato engine, with fixed latency and intelligent look-ahead programming, writing for brass has never been more effortless.
Instrument Placement
There are three options to control the space the instruments sit within, making it easier than ever to blend with other libraries in your collection:
— In-Situ – Places the instrument exactly as it was recorded for the most natural sound, with the mic mixer available for further sound shaping.
— Centre Stereo – Positions the instrument in the centre of the stereo field, using a dedicated mic setup. Great for quick mixes, or when you want to deploy your own convolution reverb plugins.
— Custom Position – Lets you place the instrument anywhere on the stage via the map with 15 options across the hall in Nave Studios.
Smart Legato
Our Smart Legato engine has been designed to make your performances feel natural and musical. It intelligently analyses your playing in real time and adapts the legato transitions automatically, giving you smooth results whether you play fast runs or slow, expressive lines.
You can fine-tune the latency setting to suit your workflow: a lower value gives a snappy, responsive feel for live playing, while a higher value (recommended) allows the engine to look further ahead for the most realistic and seamless transitions.
Legato Articulations
With each legato articulation in this library, velocities (how hard you play the note on the keyboard) below 100 will trigger slurred legato, whilst 100 and above will trigger tongued legato.
– Legato (Vibrato)
Available exclusively on the trumpet, this legato type features a distinctive vibrato that enhances expressive playing, closely mirroring the articulations of the cornet and soprano cornet in Brass Band Soloists.
– Legato (Non-Vib)
Legato intervals performed without vibrato. You can seamlessly keyswitch between vibrato and non-vibrato articulations without any crossfading artefacts or the risk of unintentionally doubling the instrument voices, preserving a natural soloistic sound.
– Legato
This is the default articulation for the French horn, trombone, and tuba, with the players performing in a relaxed, emotive style.
– Legato (Mellow)
This is the secondary legato articulation for the French horn, trombone, and tuba, with intervals performed at a much softer timbre, effectively acting as an additional dynamic. Like the trumpet, this can be keyswitched to seemlessly without any crossfading between the samples.

Other Articulations
– Sustain (Vibrato)
Sustained long notes with vibrato (trumpet only).
– Sustain (Non-Vibrato)
Sustained long notes without vibrato (trumpet only).
– Sustain
Sustained long notes with vibrato with a bold timbre (French horn, trombone, tuba, ensemble).
– Sustain (Mellow)
Sustained long notes with vibrato with a softer timbre (French horn, trombone, tuba, ensemble).
– Staccato
A very short note with a sharp attack. Dynamics are controlled by velocity.
– Tenuto (Short)
A short articulation with a rounded attack and extended decay compared to the Staccato. Dynamics are controlled by velocity.
– Tenuto (Long)
An extended Tenuto with a more rounded attack and longer decay. Dynamics are controlled by velocity.
– Performance Shorts
A multi-articulation that contains all three shorts. Shortest notes are triggered by low velocities; longest notes by high velocities. Dynamics are controlled by CC1.
